HP Launches ‘Elite Dragonfly’ Business Convertible Laptop

HP launched the HP Elite Dragonfly which is a premium laptop under Intel’s Project Athena, that weighs less than one kilogram, has key features including all-day battery life, Wi-Fi 6 and perks such as a quieter keyboard in order to help  the meeting attendees so that they won’t hear keystrokes during conference calls and meetings.

The idea behind HP’s Elite Dragonfly laptop is that work and life have blended and the tech buyers need to make a statement. In addition, the Elite Dragonfly is designed in such a way to perk up PC sales, which are increasingly becoming a concern for analysts.

During a briefing, Alex Cho who is a  president of personal systems at HP said that the Elite Dragonfly is based on the realization that tech buyers want performance without compromise in a package that delivers style.

HP-elite-dragonfly-laptopCho also added that the HP Elite Dragonfly cut weight by using magnesium and adding things like a lightweight touchpad in multi-piece construction. The 13-inch business convertible also has a screen to body ratio at nearly 86%.

The laptop also has the work-life line by including software such as HP Workwell that tells you to take breaks also and measures health along with Intel’s vPro and enterprise-grade security.

HP Elite Dragonfly is the beginning of a series of devices under Intel’s Project Athena, which is designed to make fast charging, resume and boot, machine learning and multi-touch designs the norm.

The price of the HP Elite Dragonfly is premium starts from just $1,549. HP has also launched the HP S430c Curved Ultrawide Monitor, a 43.4-inch display, for $999 and an HP E344c Curved Monitor at 34-inches for $599. The screens can manage multiple devices and operating systems.

The company’s HP business laptop also comes with a starting price of $1,549 (approximately Rs 1,10,360). It is likely to hit the Indian market sometime in November.

As for the specifications, the new HP Elite Dragonfly laptop comes equipped with  16GB RAM and up to 2TB SSD storage. The notebook can reportedly deliver up to 24.5-hours of battery life. It offers support for the latest Wi-Fi 6 connectivity as well which has the optional gigabit-class 4G LTE allows workers to connect and collaborate from almost anywhere as the world’s first business convertible with a 4×4 LTE antenna.

The device also features the highest screen-to-body ratio in a 13-inch business convertible — at almost 86 percent.

“We designed the HP Elite Dragonfly to lift the burden of movement for today’s mobile workers and to enable them to unleash their potential wherever they are, whenever they want,” said Vinay Awasthi, Vice President and General Manager, Personal Systems, Asia Pacific and Japan, HP Inc. This laptop also comes with a backlit keyboard and glass touchpad.

“The HP Elite Dragonfly is a perfect example of how HP and Intel are driving innovation through the Project Athena program,” said Chris Walker, Corporate Vice President, Mobile Computing Platforms, Intel. The company says that this notebook supports “Sure Sense” technology, which should defend against malware attacks on mobile workers.

Besides, HP also unveiled two curved monitors, including the HP E344c Curved Monitor and HP S430c Curved Ultrawide Monitor. The latter will reportedly be available for purchase on November 4. It costa $949 (approximately Rs 67,610). The HP E344c Curved Monitor, on the other hand, will be available in October.

HP S430c Curved Ultrawide monitor features a 43.4-inch curved display, the equivalent of dual 24-inch diagonal displays. The second curved monitor HP E344c monitor offers a 34-inch diagonal curved display. This curved monitor will cost (approximately Rs 42,670).

US-based HP expanded its business laptop lineup in India with the launch of the HP Elite Dragonfly. The laptop is claimed to be the world’s lightest two-in-one laptop. The key highlight of the laptop is its claimed battery life of up to 24.5 hours and weight. The laptop weighs less than 1KG.

Pricing and availability

The HP Elite Dragonfly will be available at the starting price of Rs 1,49,990 and can be purchased starting December 1 onwards. The laptop will be available across the globe on both online and offline retail stores.

Specifications and features

The new lightweight business convertible laptop from HP features a 13.3-inch display with the maximum brightness level of up to 1000nits. Along with this, the Dragonfly laptop will be available in different screen resolutions from full HD to 4K.

In terms of performance, the laptop is powered by an eighth-generation Intel Core vPro processor, up to 16GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.

In terms of battery, HP is claiming that the laptop will offer over a full day of battery life on semi-moderate usage and around 16.5 hours on medium usage. The laptop also features a fast charging tech, which as per HP’s claims, is supposed to charge the laptop to 50% in just 30 minutes of charge.

In addition to this, HP Elite Dragonfly also comes with Wi-Fi 6 onboard along with 4×4 LTE. HP has also added a bunch of security features such as HP Sure View, HP Endpoint, fingerprint scanner, HP Sure Sense for enhanced privacy and data protection.

Along with the new Elite series laptop, HP has also announced its new 34-inch curved monitor called E344c at the price of Rs 67,000. The monitor features three-way ergonomics with tilt, swivel and height adjustment up to 150mm.
