Microsoft has discontinued Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-digital edition ahead of Xbox Series X launch. It is confirmed by Microsoft as a spokesperson of Microsoft has made a statement to The Verge, “As we ramp into the future with Xbox Series X, we are taking the natural step of stopping production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. Xbox One S will be continuing to be manufactured and sold globally.”

Sales of Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital edition

Though the news is confirmed recently by Microsoft the rumours were already active during last weeks after a Reddit post. The sale of Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital edition was affected on e-commerce sites. Amazon US is itself showing “currently unavailable” or “discontinued” for these products. Also, some sellers are also showing “limited stock” in their description. Microsoft Store shows that these products have already been sold out.

However, we talk of India, Xbox One X and Xbox One consoles are currently available on both Amazon and Flipkart. US and Australia have already stopped showing both of the products. They are either showing it as discontinued or unavailable. According to Microsoft, people should concern their local retailers regarding the availability of the product in their area. So luckily, Xbox lovers are able to buy these products for some time in India.

Sale of Xbox One S will continue

The lower-cost console Xbox One S is very much available and its sale will continue as specified by Microsoft. The early rumours were also stating about the discontinuance of Xbox One S but it has been confirmed now that it will be available and its sales will continue. Xbox One X and Xbox One S were released in the year 2017 and 2016 respectively. Xbox One S was released as a successor to the original Xbox One which was released in 2013. The Xbox All-Digital Edition was released in the year 2019 but it was launched without Blu-ray Disc Device.

Reasons for discontinuing Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition

The main reason behind discontinuing Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is estimated to be Microsoft’s policy to shift to advanced level hardware. The latest Xbox X Series launched by Microsoft will be providing users with latest and advanced technology as compared to previous hardware. Maybe, this wish to transform technology and equip its users with better technology has made Microsoft discontinuing previous technology hardware.

Another reason can be the increasing number of Xbox consoles in the market. Microsoft may have realized that it has already a lot of Xbox consoles in the market and it should discontinue those equipped with previous technology and start popularizing its new hardware. However, some people are hoping for discontinued hardware to reappear in upcoming years but apparently, it does not seem so.

One of the major policies of Microsoft during the arrival of Xbox Series X was that it made sure that the Xbox One players would not leave behind with the arrival of Xbox Series X. But then why the company is discontinuing sales of the Xbox One hardware is confusing the users.

Xbox Series X

Xbox Series X was announced in 2019 as Project Scarlett and it was declared that it will make its place in the market in late 2020. This latest console is the fastest and most powerful console from Microsoft. It comes up with 1 TB Custom SSD and up to 120 FPS. It has 12 Teraflops of power. The true 4K gaming and 8K Ready is the feature at which Microsoft takes pride in. The console is the most powerful console. It has reduced the loading time so that the users can play more and wait for less. It has quick Resume feature which enables the player to switch between multiple titles and resumes with a click from where they left the game. Xbox Series X is, again and again, referred to as the future of gaming by Microsoft. The list of its fantastic features is very long. The console is obviously a work of latest technology which makes it different from Xbox One consoles.

Upcoming event on 23rd July

Microsoft has arranged the showcase of Xbox Series X games on 23 July. Though many of the users were expected to get good news about the launch of more hardware the company has made it clear that the users should not keep high expectations about the heavy hardware in this event. But one thing that is clear is that during this event, Microsoft can tell people more about its reasons for discontinuing the production and sales of Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-digital edition. Also, the users who are wishing for the reappearance of discontinued hardware can also hope for the answer to such questions from the company in this event.

Final Words

As the rumours of discontinuance of Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition were already everywhere, it is obvious that Microsoft’s Official Statement has not made a recent turn. Thought the sudden end in the sale of this hardware in some countries has disappointed many people. But in many countries, these products are still available for sale. With the arrival of new Xbox Series X, the expectations of the gamers have already increased and they are hoping for highly efficient transformation in the world of games.
