Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest electronics show that gets kicked off, every year in Barcelona. It was slated to happen from Feb 27 to March 2 of this year. Most of the technology giants who manufacture mobile devices usually participate in the event, with announcements made for the various devices.
We generally come to know of some of the announcements regarding the high-profile handsets, setting aside a range of speculations before the event gets started. We will also try to give a list of what was new from some of these remarkable technology giants.
NOKIA : Returning Back
Nokia is all poised to make a comeback with a series of smartphones. Nokia has a big CWC this year. So, far smartphones are concerned the company, which is now owned by HMD Global is planning to release three smartphones Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 as well as an upgraded feature phone, Nokia 3310.
Nokia 5 comes with a 5 inch-HD display, but is slightly more powerful with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It has a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. There are two cameras that accompany the device, 8 MP front camera and a 23 MP rear camera. It runs Android Nougat 7.1.1.
Nokia 3 is an entry-level model, with an Aluminium frame and a rear made from Polycarbonate. The processor is Mediatek 6737. It has got a 5-inch display and storage is of same capacity as Nokia 5. It will be running Android 7.1.1.
The low-budget Nokia 3310 does not run Android, but has got a 30-day battery life. The reimagined version of Snake simply make those users happy for many of whom Nokia was their first phone brand.
Samsung at MWC 2017: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and GR VR Controller
It might be an iterative model from Samsung. The tablet comes in one size. There is a 13 MP camera at the back of the device and a front-end 5 MP camera. The battery has a capacity of 6000 mAh. Android Marshmallow runs on the device. Samsung has announced that Samsung Galaxy S8 will be unveiled on March 29. There was an announcement on controller that will arrive with the Gear VR handset. Samsung finally brings a gamepad in the VR handset, with promising motion controls.
Sony at MWC 2017
Sony has announced four devices at MWC 2017. So, we have Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra. Sony Xperia XA1 has 5-inch screen and XA1 Ultra has 6-inch screen. The devices are flat and angular. They are powered by Mediatek Helio P20 processor. XA1 Ultra has a larger battery size of 2700 mAh.
Moreover, Sony has come with Sony XZs which come with Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB RAM. Meanwhile XZ Premium is based on Snapdragon 835 chip and has got a 5.5-inch display. XZ comes with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage and a battery of 2900 mAh. But, XZ Premium has 3230 mAh battery, with 64 GB internal storage. Both the devices run on Android Nougat.
It has a 4.5-inch display and combines a touch display with a physical keyboard in order to give users more usable space for typing. This keyboard can be programmed to launch up to 52 shortcuts and there is also a fingerprint sensor built into the keyboard spacebar. In addition, it runs 7.1 and comes with Blackberry Hub, covering all your messages into one consolidated place which includes texts, emails and all messages from any social media account.
Moto G5 and G5 Plus
The latest Motorola phones run Android 7.0 with Google Assistant, offering pixel-matching features. The G5 has a 5-inch, full HD display, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage with a microSD card slot. 13MP rear-facing camera and 5MP on the front and the battery is 2800mAh. On the other hand, G5 Plus has 5.2-inch screen with 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 Octa-core chip, 2GB or 4GB RAM. Rear-facing camera is 12MP, while 5MP on the front and the battery is 3000mAh.
